Freedom Works

Putting doubts asside and bringing passions together, I stretched myself  to find a space that would have the potential of being used as exhibition space with separate artist's studio.

And as soon as this personal quest for a combined space was out in the open, it revealed itself - close to Place Flagey... quiet and peaceful in the midst of a multi- and cultural neighbourhood, near one of the most emblematic art-centers in Brussels.

During the last months or more precisely since the disastrous tsunami in Japan, I increasingly dreamt about sharing a peace space, a gallery showing work around peace and freedom and where other peace promoting activities could take place.

"Think big" comes to mind as soon as peace is touched. PEACE is unlimited, for everybody everywhere always - otherwise it is not real PEACE.

An Utopia - it seems, idealistic - not possible.

Peace then becomes "not war" and we are already happy to live in a country in peace. But is it peaceful? Are we peaceful? Am I peaceful?

"Think small!" and start here and now with what you are and what you have - the voice is saying.  And so that's it - I am starting right here right now with the space on the ground floor of my small studio building. It will be dedicated to "Freedom Works".

The room is beautiful, about 45 sqm, very high wooden ceiling, big doors with windows opening to a small garden.

When I think about the art works there - I have a dream - of ceramic bowls and spoons - different visions from many artists inspiring peace. One universal theme - unlimited possibilities of sharing, nourishing, creation...   in communication with other types of art - both creating an emotional experience, an imprint.
